Enhancements for YouTube: App Store availability, iPad fullscreen, PiP and Shorts FAQ

Last updated: October 26, 2026

Answers to the most common questions about Enhancements for YouTube (Enhance YT).

Why can I no longer find or download the app?

Apple removed the app from the App Store because of its name. It is currently unavailable to download in any country. Addressing the naming issue and returning to the App Store is on our list, but there is no confirmed timeline.

If you already have the app installed, please keep it installed. We cannot promise that you will be able to download it again while it is unavailable.

Why is customization only available in the US?

For users who already have the app, customization is currently available only in the United States. We want to expand availability, but have no confirmed date to share.

Why does fullscreen fail on iPad?

Fullscreen on iPad is still affected by an iPadOS issue. You may see a message saying your browser does not support fullscreen even though you are using the app. There is no confirmed fix or release date to share.

How do I start Picture in Picture? Do I need Premium?

Picture in Picture does not require Premium.

  1. Enable Picture in Picture in your iPhone or iPad system settings.
  2. Start a video in Enhance YT.
  3. Tap the Picture in Picture button in the app to start the floating player, then switch to another app.

Simply leaving the app does not replace tapping the Picture in Picture button. If the floating player still closes, reply to your support ticket with your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, and what happens after you tap the button.

Why do I still see Shorts when I disable them?

Disabling Shorts removes the Shorts tab. It does not remove Shorts from search results, the home feed, or other places on YouTube. When you open a Short with Shorts disabled, it opens in the regular video player. The setting is not a complete Shorts filter.

Can I listen with the screen locked?

Audio playback with the screen locked is currently unreliable. We are trying to get this fixed, but there is no confirmed timeline. Picture in Picture does not require Premium, but it does not guarantee reliable screen-locked audio.

Are there fixes for feed autoplay, SponsorBlock failures, AirPlay playing audio only, or the “Are you still watching?” prompt?

We do not currently have known fixes to offer for these reported issues. This includes unwanted video playback while browsing the home feed, sponsored sections not being skipped, AirPlay sending sound without video, and playback being interrupted by the “Are you still watching?” prompt. We do not want to send you through troubleshooting steps that we cannot confirm will help.

How should I follow up on a support request?

Please reply to your existing ticket rather than opening duplicate tickets. Include your device model, operating system version, and steps to reproduce the issue. A screenshot can help; please leave out passwords and other private information.

We are catching up on a support backlog. Thank you for your patience, and sorry for the delay.
